I can't keep a set of carbides on my ski's. I have turned the ski pressure down to about zero and still eat up carbide too fast. Granted this is on pretty shitty conditions but it is breaking me buying these things.

What seems to happen is the front carbide wears down to nothing and I still have plenty on the back but then the front end up wearing through or breaking????? ...............Any Suggestions???

By the way this is a 2001 600 XCSP.

Same shit on mine. I wonder if we could get Simmons, or somebody else like Stud Boy, to put more beef up in the front of the carbides. I do get two seasons out of them though, about 2,000 miles.

I rode my wifes sled this weekend that I put a set of SlyDogs on, and now I want to ditch my Simmons for a set of them. Simmons SUCK on icy trails IMO.

115 dollars at noon today and 1 bent carbide @ 50 miles. I know I hit nothing. Maybe the whole ski is tweaked. Had a great time though. Lots of laughs and a few beers. thumb_linemup.gif

I have simmons skis on my sled and just replaced the bars with ones by Stud boy far much better than the simmons wear bars.

So I was wondering if there was someplace else to get them. Mind if I ask where you got them Hockeytown316?

Thanks for the link

If you shim the back of your skis it will put more even pressure on the center of your wear bars. Worked well on my SX and SRXes. No need on the Revs.

Just found this reply. This makes sense to me from what I am seeing in the wear of these bars. I do believe I will try this. I am assuming just a 3/8" flat washer?

I have Simmons on my F6. I have noticed that the ski seems to tip forward. So I believe that I will have the same problem when I go to change mine. The shimming of the back sounds like a good idea.

Shimming them will help drastically

Do you shim at the back of the carbide?

Do you shim at the back mount to the ski?

Check out Bergstroms site... they have a shim kit, and can tell you just how to do it. I did on mine... great people. Tell Scott I said Hi...
